Prep Time: 15 minutes
Cook Time: 10–12 minutes
Total Time: 30 minutes
Servings: 4 (6–8 crab cakes)

Ingredients

For the Crab Cakes:

  • 1 lb lump crab meat (fresh or pasteurized, drained)
  • ½ cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice, freshly squeezed
  • 1 tbsp chopped fresh parsley
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ¼ tsp paprika
  • Salt and black pepper, to taste
  • 1 tbsp melted butter or olive oil (for brushing)

Optional Dipping Sauce:

  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 1 tbsp Dijon mustard
  • 1 tbsp lemon juice
  • 1 tsp Old Bay seasoning
  • ½–1 tsp hot sauce (optional)

Instructions

1. Mix the Wet Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the egg, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, lemon juice, and spices until smooth.

2. Add Crab and Panko

Gently fold in the panko breadcrumbs and crab meat, being careful not to break up the chunks. Season lightly with salt and pepper.

3. Shape the Crab Cakes

Form the mixture into 6–8 patties, about ¾-inch thick. Place them on a tray and refrigerate for 15 minutes to help them hold together.

4. Prepare the Air Fryer

Preheat the air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray or brush the basket with oil.

5. Brush Crab Cakes

Brush the tops of the crab cakes with melted butter or olive oil for a golden, crispy finish.

6. Air Fry

Place the crab cakes in the basket in a single layer. Cook for 10–12 minutes, flipping halfway through, until golden brown and crispy on the outside.

7. Make the Sauce (Optional)

Mix all sauce ingredients in a small bowl. Chill until ready to serve.

8. Serve

Serve warm with lemon wedges, coleslaw, or your favorite dipping sauce. These crab cakes are perfect for lunch, dinner, or as an appetizer platter.

Tips for Success

  • Use lump crab meat for maximum flavor and texture.
  • Don’t overmix to keep crab chunks intact.
  • Chilling before air frying helps prevent falling apart.
  • Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket for even cooking.
